The Lesser Antilles form an arc between Puerto Rico in the North West and Venezuela to the south. Although hugely varied, these islands all have many wonderful sheltered anchorages with immense sandy beaches, palm forests tidal crystalline water in common with each other. The Caribbean sun shines a dozen hours a day, and the climate is balmy, with a temperature of 27 °C throughout the year – only varying by 3 °C between the warmest and coldest months of the year. Sailing is a delight at any time, the only difference between summer and winter being the amount of rainfall. The period from December to May is drier, although there can be some sudden thunderstorms while, during the Northern hemisphere summer, conditions remain ideal, the rain being more persistent when it falls. The Eastern trade wind, blowing year-round, rarely exceeds force 5, and ensures the most splendid sailing conditions, combined with beautiful anchorages making the Caribbean a paradise for sailors. The nautical bases of Marin, Martinique or and St Lucia, are great starting points for exploring St Vincent, Bequia, Canyan, the Tobacco Cays and Granada. If you choose a route to the North, you’ll discover Dominica, Guadeloupe, Antigua, St Martin, St Barthelemy, Guadeloupe and its capital Pointe à Pitre. Between white beaches, mountainous scenery, sugar cane plantations, and banana palms, the islands are close together both geographically and in spirit.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width= »1/3″][vc_column_text]
